Beginning August 1, 2026, Mexico is expected to require the mandatory electronic filing of the Electronic Value Manifest (MVE), changing how import valuation information is documented and reviewed during customs clearance.

Although your Mexican customer is responsible for filing the MVE, the accuracy and consistency of the documentation provided by U.S. exporters will be critical. Discrepancies involving invoices, payment terms, contracts, or Incoterms may lead to shipment delays, customs reviews, or requests for additional documentation.
