About

Venture Capital in Brazil

In spite of everything the year of 2020 was one of the most important years for the tech community in Latin America. Deals in the region came near to 500, the highest since 2011, when the data started to be monitored. Not only were there more deals, but also larger deals. In Brazil for the first time ever the volume of venture capital deals surpassed that of private equity. In 2020, we also saw the arrival of startups in the local stock exchange, a movement that will continue on in the following years.

As the ecosystem gets more mature with the sophistication of entrepreneurs, and the later conversion of those successful entrepreneurs into investors, the growing number of fund managers with solid track-records, the continuous entrance of local corporations and other strategic investors in the mix, the results we saw last year is just the beginning of the opportunities set for a region that is creative and innovative by nature.
