As society, the planet and the ways of living and working change, so does the demand for infrastructure. Today, changes have become even more urgent because of the implications of the coronavirus, so in a global context, how important is the infrastructure sector at a time of pandemic and what are the prospects for the future?
The infrastructure sector is one of the Federal Government's priorities and, in times of a COVID-19 pandemic, investments in the sector become necessary for the recovery of the Brazilian GDP and to be a driver of the economy in the short, medium and long term. Therefore, what are the measures taken by the Government to minimize the effects of the pandemic and increase the country's competitiveness? What regulatory and legislative transformation measures have been adopted for infrastructure projects?
The new sanitation regulatory framework will contribute to the revitalization of watersheds, the conservation of the environment and the reduction of water losses, in addition to providing a better quality of life and health to the population, warming the economy and generating jobs. What are the main changes presented by the new legislation and what are the opportunities for foreign investors?
The expectation for 2020 is quite strong in attracting investments in infrastructure given the enormous potential of the portfolio and the diversity of existing assets. Given the resilience of infrastructure projects, what is the PPI strategy for project maintenance? Will the auction agenda for 2020 be impacted? Is any sub-sector more affected?
The different spheres of the Brazilian State have extremely important asset portfolios.
What has been the role of the BNDES in the development of these projects? Are any measures being taken to facilitate access to finance?
Private investments are fundamental to the country's economic development. With the recent measures adopted by the Federal Government, it is increasingly sought to create a business environment conducive to the entry of new private investments.
