Marty Grunder is president and CEO of The Grow Group and of Grunder Landscaping Co., one of the most successful design-build operations of its kind in the Midwest. An unusual combination of full-time landscape professional and leading green-industry coach, Marty is uniquely positioned to deliver real-world, real-time guidance to Grow Group clients. His landscaping company has earned more than 50 local and national design awards and is a two-time winner of the Better Business Bureau’s Eclipse Integrity Award, while Marty has himself been named entrepreneur of the year by both Ernst & Young and the US Small Business Administration. The author of The 9 Super Simple Steps to Entrepreneurial Success, he has coached tens of hundreds of landscaping professionals and companies across the US and Canada and delivered more than 550 talks, motivating audiences of all sizes and shapes—from a small gathering of 20 to a stadium of 9,000—to achieve success. He is a columnist for Landscape Management and The Buckeye magazines, and is a member of the boards of the NALP Foundation, Park National Bank of Southwest Ohio, Wright State University, and the Dayton Development Coalition. A graduate of the University of Dayton School of Business, Marty is based in Dayton, Ohio.
Doug Black has served as SiteOne’s Chief Executive Officer since April 2014, and as the Chairman of our Board since June 2017. Prior to joining SiteOne, Mr. Black was President and Chief Operating Officer of Oldcastle Inc., an integrated building materials manufacturer and distributor and a wholly owned subsidiary of Irish-based CRH plc. During his 18-year career with Oldcastle, Mr. Black led the company’s entry into building products distribution and then held several senior leadership roles, including Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Oldcastle Architectural Products and Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Oldcastle Materials. Prior to Oldcastle, Mr. Black’s business career began at McKinsey & Company in 1992 where he led strategy, sales force effectiveness and plant improvement projects in the telecommunications, airline, lumber, paper and packaging industries. While serving as a U.S. Army Engineer Officer from 1986 to 1990, he completed construction projects in the Southeastern U.S., Central America and South America. Mr. Black earned an M.B.A. from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business as a Fuqua Scholar and a B.S. in Mathematical Science/Civil Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, where he was an AP all-American fullback and NCAA Scholar Athlete.
Vince Torchia is vice president of The Grow Group, where he drives strategy, oversees day-to-day operations, and provides executive coaching to clients. A graduate of the University of Dayton’s School of Business, Vince travels the country, ensuring our programs consistently deliver results and demonstrating how business owners can leverage the strengths of both their right-hand men and women and the millennial workforce to succeed. He is based in Cincinnati, Ohio.
