John Pezzillo is the Chief Executive Officer of SantoLubes Manufacturing, LLC based in Spartanburg, South Carolina.   Mr. Pezzillo brings over forty years of experience in the chemical and manufacturing industries serving in both senior management and legal counsel roles. This unique blend of technical, operational, and legal experience combined with his Six Sigma approach has led SantoLubes to rapidly expand the products and services offered to the global market.  Mr Pezzillo holds a BS in Chemistry, MBA in Finance and a Juris Doctorate.

After taking a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry at Auburn University and a PhD in organic chemistry at the University of Illinois, he joined Mobil in their Corporate Research in Princeton, NJ, where he spent 19 years in lubricants research until Exxon purchased Mobil. After 4 years with ExxonMobil in lubricants research, he joined Ashland in Lexington, KY, in the Valvoline Division as Chief Scientist. After 8 years with Valvoline, he assumed his current position for 13+ years as President and CTO of Santolubes in Spartanburg, SC.

He is inventor on 36 US patents and author on 13 scientific publications. His work over his 43-year career has focused mainly on improved processes for base oil production and the production of synthetic base oils and formulated products. His extensive research on the structure/composition influence on property and performance relationships in lubricant base oils has resulted in numerous valuable discoveries and patents.
