Poland is NATO's top defense spender by share of GDP, with its budget set to hit $55 billion (4.8 percent of GDP) in 2026 and climb toward 5 percent in 2027 -- driven by air defense and artillery investments. Italy, meanwhile, spends over $38 billion annually on defense, with growing focus on air systems and European munition stockpiles.
