The looming threat of authoritarianism, the rise of extremism, global unrest, and the related crises of disinformation and misinformation pose an existential threat to the future of democracy. As we enter an election cycle unlike anything we’ve ever witnessed, younger generations are wrestling with the tension between deep political polarization and finding solutions to the issues they’re most passionate about. So, where do we go from here?

Join The Atlantic in partnership with the University of Nevada, Reno, as we unpack crucial issues shaping the 2024 election cycle. Hear from Atlantic journalists Elaina Plott Calabro, Adam Harris, and Ron Brownstein, and contributor Evan Smith, about navigating the rise of political polarization, the future of gun safety, the high stakes for higher education, the social impact of this election, and the role of journalism and technology during these unprecedented times. We’ll also have a timely conversation about the importance of free and fair elections with Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar and The Nevada Independent’s founder, Jon Ralston.
