The European Works Council as an agent for change and transformation.
Studies and surveys prove it over and over: a company with a well-functioning European Works Council weathers any storm or crisis much more efficiently. But there is more: European Works Councils have proven vital for the implementation of corporate decisions or programs.
We live in times where traditional business models and paradigms have been disrupted and everybody knows that we are at the dawn of a new era which will imply companies and organisations to rethink the way they operate and interact with their stakeholders inside and outside of their corporate borders.
As always, the key in succeeding when navigating this sea of change will be how you interact with people. Your stakeholders are watching you and they want to see corporations behave in ecologically and socially responsible ways.
During our next EWC E-conference we will dig deep into this topic by presenting the case study of the Solvay European Works Council and the Solvay Global Forum. The vision and purpose of Solvay concentrate on helping the world navigate environmental and social challenges and that means expressing the core beliefs of Solvay: responsibility, diversity & inclusion and the universal connection between human beings. In 2021, Solvay embarked on a new journey for the Solvay European Works Council and for the Solvay Global Forum. They built an EWC and an SGF Roadmap so as to align both representative bodies with corporate strategy and values.
Come and learn from an organisation that has gone through the steps to make the EWC an agent for change and transformation!

I am a speaker, communications expert, strategist and philosopher but above all I am a cosmopolitan and I firmly believe that the great opportunity of the world of today resides in the fact that we can live the adventure of many cultures and manifold identities.Socrates famously stated that the unexamined life is not worth living and I believe that this is even more true today as we are bombarded with so much information and lost as to what to believe and what to distrust. Moreover, many people make a living out of trying to deceive others, so we had better be aware of the pitfalls. In our postmodern world, truth is often a matter of mere opinion and the battle of opinions is raging all around us. I am passionate about deconstructing fallacies, debunking myths, giving a voice to all perspectives and allowing new hybrid cultures to emerge.Communications are key and I devote my professional and private life to making sure that people have the right skills and tools to make their opinions count. Nothing saddens me more when I see how many valuable opinions are never given a chance as they are overpowered by the clamor of empty rhetoric. When a valuable perspective is not given a chance to be heard, it is not only the person expressing it who loses out, but society as a whole.
